Global Game Jam 2015

Team work makes the dream work!

My passion for video games grows exponentially by the day. It is something that has been a part of me since I was two years old, changing my dads work hard drive to my games hard drive so that I could play Alley Cat and other Gems. Though the learning curve to make video games is rather steep, I decided to get a bit of an insight of the assembly line behind the developing process.

A game jam is when developers, artists, sound engineers and producers get together to make a game in a short period of time. Generally 48 hours, like the anually Global Game Jam, which happens on a huge ammount of cities around the world. On January 23rd, 2015, Full Sail University held the Global Game Jam for Orlando and I had to be a part of it. Needless to say, one of the best choices I could have made.

Not only did I learn tons, but I was surrounded by other "Doers" who just reall loved what they did and wanted to make the best project possible. I expected to have at least half of our group drop off after the first 24 straight hours of work, but that wasnt the case. Everyone "Grinded" and the ammount of work was evident by the end.

My part on this team mostly consisted on keeping the design direction consistent and also create assets as an artist. I did the game Icon, logo, menu screen (Where I was able to learn some of the program "Unity") and the loading screen

I still cant believe how lucky we all got to be amongs others with similar work ethics.Despite our ambisious brains, we ended up with a very good looking and playable finished product. In my opinion one of the top. Ill always remember these dudes and the extreme exivision of team work we all displayed. Best of luck to everyone!!
